Koinonia Retreat Center is located on the north shore of Lake Sylvia in Wright County near South Haven and Annandale, Minnesota. Lake Sylvia has been described as one of the most pristine lakes in central Minnesota; it has a clarity level that is unsurpassed by any Minnesota lake.
The Retreat Center property include 114 acres of old prairie, big woods, and lake shore. Most of the property is undeveloped except for walking trails that enable our guests to enjoy the beauty of the properties.
The forest vegetation on the property today is classified by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources as Red Oak Sugar Maple Basswood Forest native plant community. This community, commonly referred to as “The Big Woods” once covered about 3000 square miles in central Minnesota. Today, only about 7% of that is remaining, making every remnant important.
In addition to the walking trails, Koinonia offers a sand volleyball court, wood fired sauna, skating pond, sledding hill, playing fields, and private areas where you will be able to enjoy nature in a way you may have never before experienced.
